Square Enix to relocate to Shibuya

Japanese publishing giant Square Enix is moving its main offices to Tokyo’s Shibuya.

That’s according to local publication Shibukei – as spotted by Siliconera – which reports that the company is set to move from its current location in the Japanese capital’s Shinjuku area.

This relocation isn’t set to take place until at least November 2024, when a new building is built for the Final Fantasy giant in Shibuya’s Sakuragaoka district, which has been in the process of being redeveloped since 2019. The Final Fantasy giant’s new HQ will be about 179 metres tall with a total floor space of around 184,700 square metres.

This news comes hot on the heels of word that Square Enix CEO and president Yosuke Matsuda is stepping down after a decade leading the Japanese giant. He is being replaced by Takahashi Kiryu, the company’s current GM of its corporate planning division.
