Once Human Is A Weird Survival Game You Can Try Soon

Do you like New Weird and Lovecraftian horror? Once Human is a multiplayer open-world survival title whose closed beta might interest you, as it’s purposefully built around those themes. If you don’t know what New Weird is, it’s a genre that “combines the aesthetics and themes of science fiction, fantasy, and horror”, which definitely sounds like an interesting concept. The game tries to use that theme by doing its utmost to make its players uneasy with foes that are powerful and “awesome” while they threaten the last of mankind.

Once Human‘s closed beta, which is available to sign up for right now, will start on January 6th, which is only a month and a half away from now. The Once Human closed beta application will have you and other potential players going through a questionnaire that shouldn’t take you too long to fill out. Once you do, you’ll be on the list of potential candidates.

Yep, those are definitely two humans taking down something that was once human.

As for the game itself, you and other teams of players will use your guns and supernatural abilities to fight back against the Aberrant, who are mutated monsters that decimated humanity while also destroying our cities, which is quite rude. While doing so, you’ll be able to explore the ruins of civilization, fight epic boss monsters, and acquire loot and craft new equipment. If you’re that kind of guy, you can also fight other players over their gear, which doesn’t seem very smart considering the Aberrant threat, but hey, that dude’s gun is very shiny.

The full game will launch in Q4 2023, or about a year from now, so if you don’t want to sign up for the beta, be sure to wishlist the game on Steam and do your best to forget about it until then. If you can’t, maybe you could try out games like GTFO, another survival horror shooter that has you working with a team.
